Picture yourself: sketching the outline, blending the colours on a taut canvas and finally etching out a masterpiece.  What did you see yourself stroking on the canvas? Is it a piece with glistening colours, dappled brushstrokes envisioning you in a sunlit oasis, where the world seems to ripple with every breeze? Or is it a mosaic of geometric shapes, each one meticulously outlined with vibrant shapes constructed with precision that you saw?  Art fosters creativity in its own ways, with the prominent art movements being Impressionism and Cubism. While impressionism seeks to capture the immediate, fleeting impression of a scene, often with an emphasis on light and colour, Cubism emphasises the deconstruction and reassembly of objects in an abstract geometric style, often using multiple viewpoints to represent them. Today, in photography, impressionist principles of capturing the fleeting moment and the effects of light have influenced photography, especially in techniques like "bokeh" and long-exposure shots.  Composers like Claude Debussy, influenced by impressionism, incorporated non-traditional scales, dissonance, and rich harmonies into their music, creating pieces that evoke imagery and emotions through sound.  Very evidently, impressionist ideas have been applied in literature, where authors aim to evoke sensory emotions through descriptive writing. Pretty similar to how painters use colours and light!  Cubism, even today, inspires architectural designs, particularly in the use of geometric shapes and the deconstruction of traditional architectural forms, creating innovative and abstract buildings. The use of montage and multiple perspectives in Cubist art has influenced filmmaking, particularly in avant-garde and experimental cinema, where directors manipulate time and space to create unconventional narratives.  Today we need these art principles not just for aesthetic appreciation and emotional engagement, but also for their therapeutic value, expansion of creativity and imagination in the learning stages and cultural, historical understanding.  While art primarily affects individuals and society, it can contribute to a deeper sense of connection to what philosophers call "the universe". A cinema director employs Cubism as a dynamic tool, a way to deconstruct reality and present it from numerous angles.  He shatters the conventional, allowing the audience to perceive scenes and emotions through the kaleidoscope of overlapping perspectives!  Now, interesting is that an impressionist painter, with each brushstroke, masterfully captures the essence of the same fleeting moment, preserving it in a symphony of colour and light.  The canvas becomes a vessel for emotions, invoking a profound connection between the art and us.  Impressionism and Cubism may start from different places, but they converge at the very essence of artistic expression: the ability to connect and to resonate on a deeply human level. Both these art movements, at their core, echo the same timeless truth!

In a signature display of bold innovation, Elon Musk has once again captured the world's attention. In a groundbreaking move this August 2023, the cherished social media giant Twitter, embarked on a transformative journey, reemerging as 'X' and ushering in a pivotal era in its storied legacy.  In a move that took the world by storm, Musk has changed the name of the iconic social media platform Twitter to X. But why? Why would he throw away the brand name worth millions and replace it by a mere alphabet in latin?   According to Musk’s emphatic mindset, The letter "X" is often used to symbolise the unknown or the variable that needs solving in mathematics. For Musk, renaming Twitter to X could represent a vision for the platform as a space of limitless possibilities, furthermore "X" could be seen as a way to break free from the past and start afresh. It could represent a new chapter where the platform is rebuilt, reimagined, and refocused to serve its users better.   But how does he want to rebuild it? What more changes does he want to bring to Twitter? Well the answer lies in a Chinese media app named Wuxia or WeChat. Released in 2011 WeChat today has become a single app that can provide you with features like messaging, calling, mobile payment as well as gaming and quick commerce. It has reached such a threshold that it is called a 'super-app' that can be used for anything and everything.    Mr Musk also wants to build something similar to this, a one app destination for everything and achieve something even WeChat couldn't achieve: A user base worldwide.     But X isn't the first company that is trying to achieve this goal nor is Elon Musk the first individual. Companies such as Meta have ventured into the realm of super apps, introducing innovative features like WhatsApp Pay and WhatsApp Business. Meanwhile, India's Paytm has dynamically expanded its scope by integrating quick commerce services.  Each of these forerunners has offered invaluable lessons, laying the groundwork and showcasing the limitless potential in the space. Their ventures, while having faced challenges, have paved the way for further innovations and have been instrumental in shaping the evolution of technology.   The major reason behind this failure is the threat of public privacy. No individual wants to have all his payment history, bank details and the people who they talk with on the same app. But Mr Musk had thought of this too, keeping the same in mind on 31st March 2023 Twitter open sourced some part of it's backend code and has promised to keep doing so to make the app more trustworthy and legitimate.  Twitter's latest saga unfolds as it endeavours to morph into a fusion of payments and shopping. With this transformation, the social media giant aims to integrate seamless e-commerce and financial transactions directly into its platform. Users can now shop for products, make payments, and engage with their social network all in one place, marking a bold move to diversify its services and enhance user engagement. Twitter's evolution into a multifaceted platform promises to reshape the digital landscape.   While companies like WeChat may have fallen short in their pursuit of creating a true "everything app," the vision and innovation of individuals like Elon Musk offer a tantalizing glimpse into the future of technology. Musk, known for his ambitious ventures in electric vehicles, space exploration, and brain-computer interfaces, has demonstrated a unique ability to envision and execute transformative ideas.  With his forward-thinking approach and a willingness to challenge the status quo, Musk's ventures hold the potential to redefine industries and create genuinely comprehensive and integrated digital experiences.    While the challenges remain formidable, Musk's vision exemplifies the power of individual ingenuity in shaping the future of technology in ways that transcend the limitations of existing platforms.

Hand embracing the clay, and coaxing it into harmony. Gradually, the thumb presses down and creates a depression at the center pushing it downward and outward. A clay taking shape is what the brain is signaling you, isn’t it? Running your hand over a canvas, the nerves in your hand specifically the mechanoreceptors detect that grainy, layered texture, and if you are artistically driven, your brain will probably conclude it to be “Pastel art.”  Isn’t that intriguing reading through these lines your brain immediately creates a mental picture of this, and in this process, some part of your brain is activated or a bunch of neurons fire together! This involvement of our senses doesn’t end here it extends beyond textures and comes into play every time we encounter experiences with an essence of art and literature, be it the smell of a decade-old book, or the soothing music you heard last time. Our senses collaborate with our brain's intricate networks to decode the nuances of artistic and literary expressions. Let’s have a look at what's exactly happening in there! Imagine standing in front of a masterpiece. As your eyes absorb the intricate details, neurons in your visual cortex awaken decoding colors, shapes, and lines with a precision that rivals the most advanced algorithms. Reading through a piece of literature, your parietal cortex and hippocampus regions light up, igniting the flames of imagination. They sculpt characters' faces, build towering castles, and sweep you into adventures—none of which truly exist, yet every bit is real within your mind's eye. Your prefrontal cortex, home of critical thinking, becomes a backstage director. To be more precise the fusiform gyrus kicks in, painting character portraits and personalities in your mind. Meanwhile, Broca's area takes center stage, directing the graceful linguistic performance, and ensuring words flow seamlessly. And the insula, a hotspot for empathy, makes you feel the characters' emotions as if they were your own. It dissects metaphors, deciphers symbolism, and connects threads of narrative—turning what seems abstract into profound understanding. The intricate seduction between the manifestation of artistic expression and the simultaneous orchestration of cerebral processes represents a compelling tapestry of human cognition. When one gets engrossed and immersed in the act of artistic creation, an intricate neural choreography unfolds within the deepest sanctums of the brain. Various cortical and subcortical regions, previously ensconced in stillness, embark on an intricate sensory symphony, an exquisite pas de deux of perception, motor coordination, and emotional resonance. The painter's brush or sculptor's chisel extends this neural network, translating mental imagery into tangible reality. The more you give your attention to the intricacies of what happens in there “in your brain”, the more it intrigues you. This is your brain on art.
